March 4, 2010 -- John Greene spoke to the Washington, D.C. City Council, which was considering amendments to the city's adoption code that include a provision for enforceable post-adoption contact agreements. An expert on this subject, John Greene discussed the law he helped draft in Maryland, and its effect since it has been in force.
Maryland General Assembly 2010 session -- John Greene has attended hearings and met with the sponsor of a bill to appoint a commission to study the issue of surrogacy in Maryland. He wants to make sure that people involved with surrogacy and who have experience in this area are heard by the commission, if it is created.
September 18, 2009 -- John Greene conducted a training session for the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judges' law clerks. The focus of the training session was on the fundamentals of adoption law and important issues they need to consider when reviewing cases filed with the court.
June 16, 2009 -- John Greene met with attorneys and administrators of the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System to educate them on adoption issues and the legal requirements of hospitals in adoptions.
June 5, 2009 -- John Greene spoke to the attorneys, masters and judges of Western Maryland on Maryland adoption law and procedures. This event, held in Cumberland, was sponsored by the Family Services Department of the Allegany County Circuit Court.
May 1, 2009 -- John Greene made a presentation on adoption and the Servicemember Civil Relief Act at the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys' annual conference in Portland, Oregon.
March 31, 2009 -- John Greene served as an instructor on infant adoption awareness training at the National Council for Adoption. The audience was made up primarily of social workers and nurses.
September 19, 2008 -- John Greene participated in a day-long seminar on “Adoption Law: Start to Finish,” in Baltimore, Maryland. The audience included attorneys, paralegals, adoption agency employees, social workers and counselors.
September 14, 2008 -- John Greene participated in an adoption fair at Our Lady of the Chesapeake church in Pasadena, Maryland. His presentation focused on legal aspects of adoption, including an overview of international, domestic, agency and private adoptions.
April 25, 2008 John Greene gave a speech on trends in the placement of children for adoption for the National Center for Adoption Policy and the Justice Action Center of New York Law School, New York City.
